For The Week of September 19, 2016!! Reading News! We finished reading Kid and the Red Jacket on Friday.This week the students will learn how to identify the theme of a book. They will also learn how to map a story using a Flow Map. This will be a spring board into our narrative writing unit which we will start next week. Guided Reading groups started today. The students will meet daily with me to read and work with text on their reading level. All groups are reading texts related to our science unit. Math News! The students will have a test on Place Value on Tuesday. They can use IXL.com and the problems listed under number sense A1-6 to review. They get 20 free problems which should give them a nice review. On Wednesday we will work with adding and subtracting larger numbers. Science News! This week we will focus on how the Earth’s land forms change rapidly. We will explore volcanoes and earthquakes and their effects on the Earth's surface.. NEWS! Lunch! Our lunch is from 11:25 -11:55. The students may bring or buy lunch. The cost of lunch and breakfast increased by $ 0.25 this year. The students will go right to recess after lunch. Homework! The students need to read for 20 minutes each night. They need to master their multiplication facts during the first few |
weeks of school. Let me know if you need flashcards. They will have a daily math assignment.
Planners! Please check and sign the planner nightly. Your child needs to bring it to school with them every day. Planner and Scholastic News! Thank you to all parents who have already payed for these. If you haven’t there is still time. The cost of the planner is $4.00 and the cost for Scholastic News is $6.00. Checks can be made to Washington Elem. There is an online payment option. Electives! Electives started today. Your child should bring home a letter from their elective teacher with information about the class.
